Gifford H. Kallenborn

1933 - 2023

Gifford H. Kallenborn, 90, of Greensburg, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2023, at Excela Westmoreland Hospital in Greensburg. He was born Jan. 11, 1933, in Sewickley Township, son of the late Joseph and Florence M. (Highberger) Kallenborn. He was a graduate of the former Sewickley Township High School, Class of 1951. Gifford served in the Army during the Korean War as a medical aidman. He worked and retired from Westinghouse as a carpenter in the science and technology division after 26 years of service. Gifford was a lifetime member of Hilltop United Methodist Church in Madison. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and going to his camp in Warren County. He was an easygoing guy who enjoyed joking around. Gifford was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, watching the Pirates and Steelers on television and listening to country and polka music. He was preceded in death by both parents; loving wife of 33 years, Maxine J. (Snyder) Kallenborn; infant daughter; and two brothers, Wayne and Ronald Kallenborn. He is survived by one son, Marc G. Kallenborn (Sheila), of West Newton; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, 2023, at the BEATTY-RICH FUNERAL HOME INC., Route 136, Madison, PA 15663, Ronald A. Rich Jr., supervisor/FD. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 27, 2023, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Randy Sweet officiating. Interment will follow at Westmoreland Memorial Park Cemetery in Greensburg, with full military honors by the Armbrust Veterans accorded.
