Helen Hafer

Helen Evanichko Hafer, 88, of Salem Township, died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007, in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. Born Sept. 21, 1919, in Whitney, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Anna Balik Evanichko. She retired from Carbone's Restaurant in Crabtree. Helen was a member of St. Mary's Church in Forbes Road. She was an avid Steelers fan and loved going to bingo. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, William H. Hafer; and a brother, Stanley Evanichko. She is survived by six children, Joseph (Nancy) Orischak, Linda (Nelson) Gould, Sharon (Chuck) Galloway, Kathy (Gary) Kish, William Hafer and Harry (Janet Kellerman) Hafer; grandchildren, Deb (Mike) DeTurk, Robert Orischak, David (Jeaneen) Kish, Jeffrey (Stephanie Inks) Kish and Michael Kish; four great-grandchildren; and brothers and sisters, Frank Evanichko, Josephine Banner, Anne Hunkele, Joseph Evanichko. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the P. DAVID NEWHOUSE FUNERAL HOME, corner of Church and Washington streets, New Alexandria. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in the funeral home with the Rev. Father Richard Chirichiello officiating. Burial in Unity Cemetery, Unity Township.
