James B.V. Bringe

1934 - 2019

James B.V. "Bert" Bringe, 84, of Greensburg, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019, in his home. He was born Aug. 19, 1934, in New Kensington, a son of the late Ernest and Gertrude (Shannon) Bringe. Prior to retirement, he had been a manager for Verizon for 44 years. He was a Marine Corps veteran, serving in Korea after the Korean War. Bert was a member of St. Paul Parish, Greensburg, Bell Telephone Pioneers, Marine Corps League and the Marine Corps Association. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Janet Petrarca and husband, Jack. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Teresa P. (Padula) Bringe; three sons, Eric Bringe (Vicki), of Ellicott City, Md., Pete Bringe (Kimberly), and Kevin Bringe (Lisa), all of Greensburg; four daughters, Karen Gokay (Mike), of Bernville, Kathy Kutzner (Steve), of Greensburg, Johanna Cycak (Richard), of Cape Coral, Fla., and Melissa Cappella (Arthur), of Greensburg; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his sister, Patricia Sinatra (Charles), of Hilton Head Island, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
Honoring Bert's wishes, there will be no public visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Parish, 820 Carbon Road, Greensburg. Please go directly to the church.
