James Muir Obituary

James E. Muir, 86, of Blairsville, passed away at his home on Jan. 15, 2025. A native of Blairsville, he was born in his family home and graduated from Blairsville High School. Jim retired as a mechanic at Leese & Co. He was very passionate about the outdoors. Some of his favorite hobbies included hunting, fishing, boating, water skiing, trapping, biking, snow skiing, and spending time at his family camp with family and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, David Earl Muir Sr. and Dorothy Grace Rosborough; a brother, Donald Muir; son Patrick F. Muir; and son-in-law Brian Sterrett. He is survived by his brothers, David Earl Muir Jr. (Nancy Parchuke) of Des Moines, Iowa, and Robert (Bob) Muir (Claire Kaveler) of St. Louis, Missouri; his daughter, Susan Sterrett of New Alexandria; daughter-in-law, Wendy Lees Muir of Paintertown; four grandchildren, Megan Kreutz and husband, Kyle, Eric Sansonetti, Katie Sterrett, and Hunter Muir; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Friends and family will be received for a memorial gathering on Saturday, Jan. 25, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the Community United Presbyterian Church, 1640 Keystone Park Road, New Alexandria, PA 15670. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., in the church with Pastor John Webb officiating. A luncheon will follow the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Pennsylvania Cross Country Ski Association (PACCSA), 309 West Marion St., Munhall, PA 15720-2751. P.
