James "Jim" H. Scott, 89, of Washington Township, passed away Sunday, Oct. 12, 2025, surrounded by his family. Born Nov. 17, 1935, in Braddock Hills, he was the son of the late John E. Scott Sr. and Melda P. Emeigh (Ford). After graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as a radio communications specialist. Following his military service, Jim built a meaningful career and strong work ethic that carried throughout his life. Prior to retirement, he was the co-owner of J. Scott Enterprise with his brother, John, in Delmont. A lifelong community servant, Jim had served as a volunteer firefighter for the Holiday Park Fire Department and as a volunteer deputy game warden with the Pennsylvania Game Commission, always ready to lend a helping hand. Jim was a member of the Infinity Lodge No. 546 of Penn Hills and a member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. He was also a lifetime member of the American Legion in Slickville (Post 18). Through these organizations, Jim found deep friendships and countless opportunities to serve others. In addition to spending time with family and friends, Jim loved the outdoors hunting, fishing, and, more recently, relaxing on his deck listening to music while watching and feeding his backyard animal friends. Jim was preceded in death by his stepdad, John E. Emeigh; his sons, Jeffery J. Scott and Craig T. Scott; as well as his brothers, John E. Scott Jr. (Jean) and Kenneth R. Scott (Linda); and his sister, Melda Lee Duxbury (John). Jim is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Anne "Peggy" Scott (Galvin); daughter, Kelly M. Lloyd (T.J.) of Irwin; his grandchildren, Kayla R. Lloyd and Joshua T. Lloyd (Christina); and his great-grandchildren, Amelia and Lilianne, who brought him endless joy. He also loved with all his heart his many cousins, nieces, and nephews and their families. Jim and Peggy also shared a special friendship with Susan L. Todd, who remains a cherished part of the family. Jim will be remembered for his generous heart and his quiet yet powerful presence. His legacy lives on through the love he gave and the lives he touched. Family and friends are invited to honor Jim's life on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2025. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. at VAIA FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Celebration of Life from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Red Barn Winery, 275 Manor Road, Delmont, PA 15626.
