James Shomo Obituary

James R. Shomo, 86, of Bolivar, died Thursday, July 15, 2010, at Jeannette Hospice. Born Jan. 23, 1924, in Lockport, he was the son of the late James W. and Elizabeth (Fulcomer) Shomo. He was also preceded in death by his son, Michael Shomo; stepmother, Ella Mae (House) Shomo; brothers, Hubert, Donald, John, Thomas and Cyril Shomo; and sisters, Betty Decker, Clara Carney and Janet Tiernan. He is survived by his wife of more than 54 years, Goldie (Kentz) Shomo; children, James S. Shomo, of Bolivar, Karen King and husband, Gerald, of New Florence, Timothy W. Shomo and wife, Sherry, of Ohio, Richard L. Shomo and wife, Alice, of Texas, and Gary A. Shomo and wife, Lori, of Seward; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Millard Shomo, of Arizona; and sisters, Dolores Kertulis, of Camp Hill, and Mary Nestlerode, of Mechanicsburg. He was a retired employee of Bethlehem Steel Corp., Johnstown Plant, and was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at KENNETH A. STUART FUNERAL HOME, 139 Ligonier St., New Florence. Private interment will be in Fairfield Cemetery. Military rites will be at 8 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home by local veteran's organization.
