Janet S. Leichliter

1930 - 2023

Janet S. Leichliter, 93, of Unity Township, died peacefully Sunday, Sept. 10, 2023, at her home. She was born July 1, 1930, in Unity Township, a daughter of the late John C. Jr. and Hulda E. (Lunnen) Stewart. She was a graduate of Latrobe High School, Class of 1948. Prior to retirement, she worked at the former Volkswagen in New Stanton. She was a member of Pleasant Unity United Methodist Church. Janet enjoyed traveling with her husband in their motor home, visiting 48 states. She took great pride in her extensive vegetable and flower gardens and loved watching the flocks of wild birds that came to her collection of bird feeders. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Leichliter; her daughter, Beth Peters; a son, Mark L. Leichliter; her brother, D. Wayne Stewart; and two sisters, June S. Taylor and Verna Earnest. She is survived by a son, Douglas A. Leichliter and wife, Janet, of Southwest Greensburg; three grandchildren, Sarah Winchester, Laura Inklovich and Adam D. Leichliter; a son-in-law, Clark D. Peters, of Northeast; a sister, Thelma Kemerer, of Unity Township; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 2072 Route 130, Pleasant Unity. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Pleasant Unity United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jason E. Schweinberg officiating. Please go directly to the church. Interment will follow in Ligonier Valley Cemetery.
