Joel Scheib Obituary

Joel L. Scheib, 87, of Greensburg, died Monday, Jan. 20, 2025, at his home. He was born May 2, 1937, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Joseph F. Scheib and Elizabeth M. Miller Scheib. Joel was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral. He was a graduate of St. Vincent prep and St. Vincent College. Joel served in the Army Reserve as a Sergeant First Class. Prior to retirement, he was employed as a systems analyst by the Elliot Company. He loved spending time with his family. Joel enjoyed outdoor activities, including skiing, biking, hunting, fishing, and gardening, and was a lifelong learner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Joan Kerin. Joel is survived by his wife of 58 years, Eileen Tyrrell Scheib; his son, Charles Joseph Scheib (Rachel), and daughter, Jean Scheib; sister, Susan Przybylek (Dan); granddaughters, Abbie Scheib and Megan Scheib; also, a number of nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation for Joel. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. in Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, 300 North Main St., Greensburg. Interment will follow in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery. If desired, memorials may be made to the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral's Bethlehem Project.
