He proudly, with strength and humility, as an Army Corporal, served his country during the years of the Korean Conflict. It is said: "A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself" (quote by Joseph Campbell). With recognition of his military service, and his dedication and love of family, with honor, we thank our father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, John Daniel Downing.
Love, Sheila and Family
