John W. Shartzer

1950 - 2021

John William Shartzer, 70, of Connellsville, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Aug. 14, 2021, at his home. He was born Nov. 27, 1950, in Uniontown, a son of the late James Victor and Mabel Ruth (Luckey) Shartzer. John proudly served in the Army. Once returning from his service, he attended and graduated from California University with a Bachelor's degree in accounting. For many years until his retirement, John was employed through Anchor Hocking. John was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Connellsville. He was a member of the VFW Post 21, Connellsville Elks Lodge No. 503 and the Fairview Club. John loved playing darts and was a member of the darts team for the Elks. John is survived by his sister, Paulette Musser and husband, Robert, of Pittsburgh; nieces, Gretchen Kennedy and husband, David, of Virginia, and Kristen Ginzburg and husband, Gene, of Pittsburgh; and numerous cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Victor Shartzer, and numerous aunts and uncles. Funeral arrangements are under the care and supervision of the PAUL G. FINK FUNERAL HOME INC., 418 N. Pittsburgh St., Connellsville, PA 15425. No visitation will be held. John's funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 3, 2021, in Trinity Lutheran Church, Connellsville, with Pastor Kerri Clark officiating.
