Ed was a man of utmost integrity and kindness - as I knew him as a fellow teammate and friend at Collins High School. We were football mates and fellow team members of the track team.

I first met Joseph at WVU when I joined his college fraternity - Pi Kappa Alpha. I knew him as "Eddie Ayres". His class was three years ahead of mine. I will always remember Eddie for the outstanding role-model he set for the younger Brothers. Eddie was truly a gentleman, scholar and friend.
