Joseph M. Hamill

Joseph M. Hamill, 87, of Derry, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2006, in Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. He was born Feb. 8, 1919, in Derry Township, a son of the late George J. and Alice Yonker Hamill. He was a member of the Latrobe Presbyterian Church, and had retired from Latrobe Steel. He was a member of the Steelworkers Retirees Club and at one time had owned his own trucking business. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Bailey, Alice Loretta Connor and Jane Sauers; and three brothers, Paul, John and George Hamill. Joe is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Betty L. Kells Hamill; his sister, Irene and her husband, Bernard Sylvester, of Derry; two sisters-in-law, Ella Hamill and Marian Todorich; two brothers-in-law, Robert Sauers and Barry H. Kells and his wife, Olive; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the McCABE FUNERAL HOME, 300 W. Third Ave., Derry. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Unity Chapel, Unity Township, with the Rev. Clark R. Kerr officiating. Entombment will follow in Coles Cemetery mausoleum.
