Joseph W. Murdock Jr.

1949 - 2022

Joseph Wayne Murdock Jr., 73, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Friday, Dec. 30, 2022, at home. He was born May 15, 1949, in Mt. Pleasant, to the late Joseph Murdock Sr. and Dolores (Laciak) Murdock. He served his country in the Navy on board the U.S.S. Newman K. Perry. A graduate of Southmoreland High School and Triangle Technical Institute, Joe worked for over 30 years as a millworker for Teledyne Columbia-Summerill Scottdale, and prior to retirement, he was employed at Ice Cube Inc., of Greensburg. He was a member of Visitation Catholic Church, Mt. Pleasant. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Cindy (Christie) Murdock; three children, Christopher (Jen) Murdock, Justin Murdock, Melissa Murdock and her significant other, Pat Eckles; four grandchildren, Emerson, Jackson, and Justin (JJ) Murdock, and Oscar Eckles; six siblings, Sharon (Burt) Riggi, Michelle (Neil) Lamb, Mike (Lynda) Murdock, Mary (Mike) Petrucci, Eunice (Dave) Flagg, Marsha (Rodney) White; two sisters-in-law, Patty (Jim) Klejka, and Barb (Tom) Lindsay; and an extensive family of nephews, neices and cousins. According to his wishes, visitation and funeral services were private. Burial was in Visitation Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. The family wishes to thank Hillman Cancer Center and Suncrest Hospice. JAY A.
