Joseph E. Norris

1925 - 2017

Joseph E. Norris, 92, of Ligonier, passed away Friday, Dec. 22, 2017. He was born Oct. 24, 1925, in Ligonier, a son of the late George and Pearl Ambrose Norris. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frankie Norris; a son, Joseph E. Norris Jr.; and two brothers, George Norris Jr., and John Norris. Joe was a veteran of the Navy and served in World War II on the USS Spangler, a destroyer escort. He was a member of Heritage United Methodist Church, and prior to retirement, he was employed for 32 years by Latrobe Steel. He is survived by his daughter, Linda Peters and her husband, Robert, of Ligonier; two grandchildren, Miranda Ludwig and her husband, Russell, of Ligonier, and Joseph Peters and his wife, Aimee, of Ligonier; a great-grandson, Caleb Ludwig; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday in the SNYDER FUNERAL HOME INC., 402 E. Church St., Ligonier. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of the funeral home, with the Rev. John E. Flower Jr. officiating. Private interment will be in the Ligonier Valley Cemetery.
