Joseph T. Soforic

Joseph Todd Soforic, 52, of Scottdale, died unexpectedly Monday, May 18, 2015, in Forbes Regional Medical Center, Monroeville. Mr. Soforic was born Dec. 6, 1962, in Mt. Pleasant, the son of Joseph and Audrey Shaffer Soforic, of Mt. Pleasant. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church of Scottdale. Joe was a 1981 graduate of Geibel High School and the University of Pittsburgh in 1985. He worked for the Mt. Pleasant Publishing Corporation in various management roles including secretary/treasurer of the Mt. Pleasant Publishing Corporation, financial manager of the Mt. Pleasant Publishing Corporation and business manager of the Laurel Group Newspapers from 1985-2008. He then transitioned to work for the Tribune Review after they purchased the Laurel Group Newspapers. After retiring from the Tribune Review, Joe supported the senior community in Mt. Pleasant through a variety of efforts. He spent much of his time helping and enjoying his family at Deep Creek Lake, Md. Joe is survived by his loving family, his parents, Joseph and Audrey Shaffer Soforic; his brother, John Shaffer Soforic and his wife, Patti; and by his niece and nephew, Kristen Soforic and Michael Soforic. He is also dearly loved as a second son and brother by the Forrest Kastner family. Family and friends were received Thursday at the GALONE-CARUSO FUNERAL HOME, 204 Eagle St., Mt. Pleasant. A blessing service was held Friday in the funeral home followed by Joe's funeral Mass in St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, Mt. Pleasant, with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko, as celebrant.
