Joseph H. Springer

1948 - 2025

Joseph Henry Springer, 77, of Bolivar, PA, passed away on November 12, 2025, at his farm. Joe was born September 14, 1948, in Ligonier, PA, to Walter and Samantha (Wolf) Springer. A graduate of Ligonier Valley class of 1966 and Gateway Technical Institute, he served as a communication specialist attached to the 101st Airborne. Joe married Donna (Peoples) Springer May 4th, 1968. Together they had daughters Sherry Lynn (Dennis) Mitchell and Melissa Sue Springer. He was employed as an electronics specialist and was known as "Motorola Joe". Joe was very active in his community. He was a leader of Laurel Mountain 4-H Horse & Pony Club for 17 years and a member of Chestnut Ridge Community Center, where he taught many people how to square dance, organized events and assisted with maintenance and construction work. In addition, he was a member of the Appalachian Wagon Train and Ligonier Valley Horseman Association. Joe was an avid storyteller who loved to share the history of his family's living, farming and deer hunting in the Ligonier valley for several generations. In addition to his daughters Joe is survived by a granddaughter, Ashley (Jack) Ogden and great-grandson Henry Ogden, sisters Mary Springer and Darlene Stahl, brother Larry Springer, several cousins, nephews, a niece and great-nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ligonier. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Monday November 17th 2025 at the SNYDER FUNERAL HOME INC., 402 E. Church St., Ligonier. The Ligonier Valley Veterans Honor Guard will conduct Funeral Honors at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. A funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. on Tuesday, November 18th 2025 at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Fort Palmer Cemetery.
