Josephine Picciottoli Obituary

Josephine Cuomo Picciottoli, 100, passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 16, 2025. Born March 25, 1925, in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, she proudly became a U.S. citizen on December 17, 1962. Josephine was one of twelve children of the late Anthony and Marie Cuomo. In the late 1940s, Josephine moved to New Jersey, where she worked at Gemex in Union, NJ. It was there that she met the love of her life, Vito (Vic) Picciottoli. The two were married on February 6, 1949, settled in Newark, NJ, and shared nearly 58 years together until Vito's passing on February 10, 2007. A devout Catholic with an unwavering faith in God, Josephine was a longtime member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Ligonier, PA. She took pleasure in her life-long love of music, her cats, and singing with her husband and children. Her playful, childlike spirit, unconditional love, and affectionate nature filled her home, where she delighted in caring for her family. She treasured every moment with her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and found her greatest joy in being surrounded by them. Her compassion, warmth, and generous heart touched all who knew her. She was predeceased by her husband, Vito; her parents, Anthony and Marie Cuomo; and siblings, Ava Cristo, Sylvia Salhani, Rocco Cuomo, Stella DeVito, Lucy McGuire, Anna Leone, and Faustina Comisso. Josephine is survived by her children, Daniel Picciottoli (late wife, Ginny), Rosanne Muzydla (husband, James, and his son, Kevin wife, Tanya), and Ava Maria Frotton; grandchildren, Michael Picciottoli (wife, Katherine), Natalie Gussis (husband, Brian), and Lukas Frotton; and great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Jennifer, and Ebenezer Picciottoli, and Brylee and Nathan Gussis. She is also survived by siblings Lenore Coccio, Daniel Cuomo (wife, Delma), Teresa Stack, and Marie Stampe. Josephine will be lovingly remembered for her faith, her devotion to family, and her sweet, kind nature that brought light to everyone around her. Her legacy of love, joy, and selfless care will live on through her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. A visitation in honor of Josephine's life will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, from 2 pm to 4 pm and 6 pm to 8 pm at SNYDER-GREEN FUNERAL HOME located at 402 East Church Street, Ligonier, PA. A Funeral Mass will be held on August 21, 2025, at 11:00 am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, West Main Street, Ligonier, PA, with Reverend Anthony J. Carbone, as celebrant. Interment will be in Mt. Macrina Cemetery, Uniontown, PA. A bereavement meal (repast luncheon) will be held immediately following the Funeral Mass in The Atrium at Holy Trinity Church. All are welcome.
