Joshua Aaron Gruden, 43, of Mt. Lebanon, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, June 14, 2018. He was the beloved son of Francis and Patti (Roesch) Gruden, of Mt. Lebanon; devoted and loving father (aka Daboo) of Storey Elizabeth Gruden; brother of Francis Gruden IV; fiance of Karina M. Casale; grandson of Frank Gruden and the late Elizabeth "Bettie" Gruden, Arveda and Elmer Roesch; and nephew of Kevin Gruden, Patrick (Gina) Gruden, Bill (Paula) Roesch, Luann Roesch (Larry) Steffy and Barbara (Ron) Forsman. He also leaves behind many relatives in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. Josh was a 1993 graduate of Mt. Lebanon High School, where he played football, basketball and soccer. He attended West Virginia University and was a member of the 1993 Sugar Bowl team. Josh loved his family and friends, was an avid fitness enthusiast and enjoyed music and concerts, particularly Widespread Panic and Phish. Josh was well respected in the service industry for many years before moving on to his true passion of personal training and managing fitness clubs.
Friends and relatives are invited to a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 23, 2018, at Our Lady of Joy Catholic Parish, 2000 O'Block Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15239. Arrangements are by BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND ALTERNATIVE SERVICES INC., Oakmont.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. (www.stjude.org).

This feels like a part of my childhood has been ripped away. I have gone to school with Josh since kindergarten at Lincoln. He and I were never really friends, but I remember him well. He was a force of nature. No other way to describe him. His personality was electric. I can't believe I am using past tense when talking about him. My heart is heavy over this loss, and my most heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

To Josh's Family, I met Josh in March when he signed me up at the gym. He is actually the reason I joined because of his friendly and charismatic personality. I would make a point to stop and greet him every visit and he was just such a lovely person. He would always talk about Karina. I am actually in Wildwood, New Jersey right now and have been very upset during our entire trip. I cannot imagine what it will be like not to see him there next week but I will never forget his kindness with me in my journey. I am so glad I got to meet him even for such a short time. You raised a wonderful man.❤
