Kathryn Nelson Obituary

Kathryn Rose Nelson, 73, of Elizabeth Township, died Thursday, June 25, 2015, at home. She was born Feb. 5, 1942, in Smithdale, and was the daughter of the late John J. and Louise M. Barrick Gasda. She was a member of St. Michael Parish, Elizabeth Township, and Olympia Lifespan. She is survived by her sons, Evan B. (Stacey Leverett) Nelson, of Cumberland, R.I., Richard M. (Karl Meingossner) Nelson, of Media, and Timothy C. (Michele) Nelson, of Mt. Vernon; brother, John J. (Betty Lou) Gasda Jr., of Liberty; sister, Patricia Ann Gasda, of Elizabeth Township; granddaughter, Lucia Hope Meingossner; step-granddaughter, Lauren Colaianni; and 11 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Richard Gasda. Friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 28, at the GILBERT FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 6028 Smithfield St., Boston, Elizabeth Township. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Monday, June 29, at the St. Michael Parish with the Rev. Thomas Wagner officiating. Private burial will be in the St. Clare Cemetery, Clairton. Condolences may be made at gilbertfuneralhomeandcrematory.com.
