Lewis Amicone Obituary

Lewis Amicone Sr., 85, of Lakeland, Fla., formerly of North Huntingdon, arrived in Heaven Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, and was greeted by his Lord and Savior and his beloved wife, Anna. Prior to his retirement, he was owner and operator of Hi-Way Service Center in Irwin and North Huntingdon. Lewis worked as chief investigator for Westmoreland County Public Defender's office. He raced stock cars at Latrobe, Winbur and Jennerstown speedways. He was a jack of all trades and never backed down from a challenge. He was tough with tough people, yet gentle with gentle people and always prayed everyday. In addition to his beloved wife, Anna, he was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Carmella Amicone; a son, Larry; brothers, Domenick and Carman; sisters, Lil and Fanny; and an infant granddaughter. He is survived by a son, Lewis Amicone Jr. and his wife, Susan, of North Huntingdon; a daughter, Linda Wampler and her husband, Jack, of Greensburg; grandchildren, Lewis Amicone III, Natalie Hays, Carrie Zayas, Eric and Danielle Amicone, Kelly and Steven Salvini; great-grandchildren, Carrie, Kara, Kelly, Blaze, Sean, Scott, Derick and Sam; and a sister, Margaret. Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the JOSEPH F. OTT FUNERAL HOME INC., 504 Oak St., Irwin. A committal service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Christ Our Redeemer Cemetery, 204 Cemetery Lane, Pittsburgh, PA 15237. Please go directly to the cemetery chapel. John F. Ott is assisting the family with arrangements.
