Thomas L. Headrick

Thomas L. Headrick, 89, of Salem Township, New Alexandria, died peacefully Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at home surrounded by his devoted family. He was born July 18, 1923, in Mineral Point, a son of the Late Fred and Rhoada (Sell) Headrick. Prior to retiring, Thomas was employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad as a mechanic. He was a proud Army veteran of World War II and the Battle of the Bulge, having served from 1941 to 1945. He first served with the Armored Division and later became a member of the 101st Airborne Division, where he earned the rank of corporal. Thomas was Protestant by faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Arvella Maughan and Kathleen Fryer; brothers, Clifford, Henry and Ira Headrick; and nieces, Rhoda Headrick Livingston and Phyllis Zemitis. Thomas will be dearly missed and is survived by his loving family, his beloved wife of almost 67 years, Amelia LeChamp Gurisch Headrick; daughter, Linda Headrick George, of Derry; sons, Thomas L. Headrick Jr., of Brighton, Colo., and Clark Headrick Sr., of New Alexandria; sister, Burl L. Headrick Cole, of Monroeville; three nieces and two nephews. He will be especially missed by his seven grandchildren, Randy, Payten, Tim, Nicole, Clark Jr., Jamie and Jayson; and five great-grandchildren, Jordan, MacKenzie, Augustus, William and Lillian. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the VAIA FUNERAL HOME INC., 463 Athena Drive, Delmont, 724-468-1177. Funeral services for Thomas will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.
