Matthew E. Chobanian

Matthew E. Chobanian, 60, formerly of New Kensington, passed away Sunday, Oct. 22, 2023. He was a graduate of Valley High School in 1982 and a 1987 graduate of West Virginia University. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in plant and soil science for small fruits. He began his career as an associate manager for Westmoreland Berry Farm and Orchard in Prince George County, Virginia. From there is resume was as follows: vineyard manager for Ingelside Wineries of Virginia, vineyard creator and manager of Childress Winery in North Carolina, vineyard creator and manager for Piccone Wineries, in North Carolina, and last Habersham Vineyard manager of the Habersham Wineries in Helen, Ga. Matt was known for his quick wit and sense of humor and loved the outdoors, with a passion for horticulture to produce the best grapes possible. He is survived by his parents, Matthew R. and Yvonne M. Chobanian, of Lower Burrell; sister, Denise (Jeffrey) Thomas; brother, Dennis (Diane) Liotta; wife, Lisa, of Clarkesville, Ga.; son, Joshua E.; stepson, Caleb Spisak, of Vandergrift; grandchildren, Kaydee and Blake; and step-grandchildren, Olivia and Macy. Visitation was held Oct. 24, 2023, at Hillside Memorial of Clarkesville, Georgia. Final resting place is Habershaw Winery Vineyards of Clarkesville, Ga.
