Michael Gaydos Obituary

Michael J. Gaydos, 64, formerly of Level Green, died Monday, April 18, 2005, at Indiana Hospital, Indiana, Pa. He was born Oct. 15, 1940, in Swissvale, the beloved son of the late Michael James and Ann Tancraitor Gaydos. Michael was a graduate of Robert Morris College in Pittsburgh. He studied philosophy and theology for seven years at Duquesne University, Holy Apostles Seminary and St. John Vianney Seminary, expecting to become a priest. In 1970, however, he was called by God to become an evangelist instead. He began by speaking at local Catholic parishes and Protestant congregations. Invitations to preach the Gospel carried him around the world several times. Michael has written two books, "Eyes to Behold Him" and "All in a Family." He has appeared on local television coast to coast in the United States. Often, when he was ministering in an area, local stations would show "On the Road" by Christian Broadcasting Associates. This 30-minute movie was an autobiographical account of Michael's work. He was the president of Visionary Ministries. He is survived by his brother, Richard Gaydos and his wife, Mary, of North Huntingdon; two nieces, Rachelle Gaydos Sestina and Renee Gaydos Bittner; six great-nieces, three great-nephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the JAMES W. SHIRLEY FUNERAL HOME INC., Clay Pike, Circleville, North Huntingdon. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Agnes Church. Interment in Braddock Catholic Cemetery. www.shirleyfuneralhome.com.
