Michael Modrak Obituary

Michael J. Modrak, 16, of North Huntingdon, died peacefully Thursday, Sept. 17, 2009, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born May 6, 1993, in Greensburg, beloved son of Darrin J. and Shirley A. Modrak. Michael was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, North Huntingdon. He was a sophomore at Norwin Senior High School, where he was awarded the Presidential Achievement Award for Academics. An excellent artist, he also enjoyed his Xbox, watching horror movies and "House," and collected Star Wars figures. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Samantha; two brothers, Jacob and Zachary; maternal grandparents, John B. II and Shirley L. Steel, of Greensburg; paternal grandparents, Frank and Rose Modrak, of North Huntingdon; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends; and canine companions, Bruce and Gopi. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the JAMES W. SHIRLEY FUNERAL HOME INC., Clay Pike, North Huntingdon. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, North Huntingdon, with Father Len Stoviak as celebrant. Entombment will follow in Penn-Lincoln Memorial Park Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to Pet Friends, P.O.
