Mildred J. Ruffner

1928 - 2025

Mildred Jane "Mid" (Bibby) Ruffner, 96, of Latrobe, passed away Saturday, Aug. 16, 2025, at Kelly's II Personal Care Home. Born Aug. 28, 1928, in Yukon, she was the daughter of the late George and Edith (Ohler) Bibby. Mid was a devout Catholic and member of St. Bartholomew Church, Crabtree, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the Rosary Altar Society. She was a homemaker and owner of her own ceramic shop for 20 years. In her free time, she enjoyed reading and gardening and was a huge fan of Pittsburgh Pirates baseball. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Jesse A. Ruffner, on Nov. 14, 2005; her brother, Harry Bibby; and two sisters, Ethel Romansky and Edith Carl. Mid is survived by her four sons, Larry (Margie) of Latrobe, Dale (Vicki) of Virginia, Jeffrey (Kathy) of Latrobe, and Brian (Jennifer) of Latrobe; one sister, Evelyn Colopy, of Tennessee; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Mid's family would like to extend a special thank-you to Darlene Kelly and the aides at Kelly's II and Bridges Hospice, especially Marian, for all their special care. Family and friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2025, at the LOPATICH-BRINKER FUNERAL HOME LLC, 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, 2025, at St. Bartholomew Church, Crabtree. Interment will follow at Calvary Hill Cemetery, Crabtree. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions, in memory of Mid Ruffner, be made to St. Bartholomew Church, P.O. Box A, Crabtree, PA 15624.
