Mildred Shumar Obituary

Mildred M. Shumar, 91, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 18, 2011, with her family at her side, at The Cedars Home, Monroeville. Mildred was born May 26, 1920, in Dunbar Township, Fayette County, a daughter of the late Lillian Firestone and James Stenger. She was a graduate of German Township High School, and a member of the United Methodist Church. She was a health care volunteer, and a dedicated homemaker, mother and grandmother. She is survived by two sons, C. Robert H. Shumar Jr. and wife, Cheryl, of Mt. Pleasant, with whom she made her home, and Mark Shumar and wife, Wanda, of Henderson, Nev.; and her daughter, Sharon Miller and husband, Robert, of Millsboro, Del. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Bob and Scott Miller, Mark II, Alexi and Robert Shumar III; and seven great-grandchildren, De'Ja, Shailyn, Jimiere, Cailla and Leia Shumar, Ellie and Abbey Miller. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clair Robert Henry Shumar Sr., in 1977. A funeral service was held at the Mt. Pleasant First Baptist Church with the Rev. Shirley Farino officiating. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. SALOOM-PETERSON FUNERAL HOME INC., Youngwood, entrusted with arrangements.
