Nick F. Cepullio, 90, died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at Brookline Village in State College. His last years were spent surrounded by his loving family. Born Nov. 4, 1921, in Greensburg, he was the son of the late Antonio and Donia DiOrio Cepullio. He was retired from Pittsburgh Plate Glass. He was a proud World War II veteran, having served in the Air Force as a high-speed manual radio operator. He was a lifetime member of Blessed Sacrament Cathedral in Greensburg. Nick loved his family, extended family and his many friends. Spending quality time with them was what he enjoyed most. He also enjoyed Penn State football, listening to Frank Sinatra, playing card games and in his earlier years - cooking, golf and tending his garden of tomatoes, lettuce, peppers and onions. Nick was young at heart and loved life. He touched many lives with his smile and his charming personality. He was deeply loved by all those who were blessed to know him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 58 years, Joanne Matenkoski Cepullio; two brothers, Frank J. Cepullio and Daniel M. Cepullio; four sisters, Nellie Damato, Lucy F. Detore, Jennie DeBone and Dolly Karfelt; and brother-in-law, Paul W. Turney. He is survived by his four children, Nikki Ann Silvis, of Lemont, Anthony Cepullio and his wife, Donna, of Port Matilda, Kevin Cepullio, of Berea, Ohio, and John Cepullio and his wife, Cynthia, of Valley City, Ohio; three sisters-in-law, Patricia Cepullio, of Greensburg, Delores Turney, of Greensburg, and Shirley Pochapin, of Pittsburgh; and many nieces and nephews. He was a grandfather of 10, Melissa Bartlett and her husband, Graham, Angela Cepullio, Brett Cepullio, Katie Cepullio, Amy Gravine and her husband, Tom, Kristin Thelen and her husband, Brett, Michael Silvis, Samantha Cepullio, Nicholas Cepullio and Jocelyn Cepullio. Nick was blessed with six precious great-grandchildren, twins Evee and Fayla Sarkissian, Bohdi Sarkissian, Phoebe and Georgina Bartlett and Faith Gravine. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the BARNHART FUNERAL HOME, 505 E. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg. Prayers will be said at 9 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, 300 N. Main St., Greensburg. Entombment with full military honors accorded by the VFW Post 33 Honor Guard will follow in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery.
