Raymond Draggie Obituary

Raymond was born Oct. 31, 1952, to Peter and Gladys Draggie, in Wilkinsburg. He went to be with the Lord Thursday, Jan. 6, 2022. Ray graduated from Trafford High School in 1970 and attended several technical schools, gaining numerous credentials throughout his life. His hard work and intelligence eventually found him at Boeing as a crash investigator technician, where he retired in 2008. His work was not the highlight of his life; making people happy was. He loved doing construction projects, fixing projects that went wrong or having a meal with a friend. He would have given the shirt off his back if he felt it would make someone have a better day. He was always thinking, "How could this be made better? What if we invented this new item?," leading to numerous patents over the years. He always stuck up for what he felt was right, even if it went against the grain, and he was not afraid to share his point of view. He loved his family and friends more than anything. Even though he lived a full life, the simple things made him the happiest. Family, the beach, Steelers football, Gonzaga basketball, golf, drinking a beer with friends, playing slot machines and pull tabs or taking a trip was what made him smile. Our dad was never afraid of dying and had a strong relationship with God. He would not want us sad; he would wish us to celebrate him being with his Father and free from his body. "Throughout my life, I gave my best. I earned my keep, I've earned my rest. I never tried to be great or grand. I tried to be a helping hand. When you think of me, know I'm free. Raise a glass and have a drink on me." Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Gladys, and brother, Larry. He is survived by his daughters, Danielle and Christa; his brothers, Ed (Cindy) and Jim (Lee Ann); his sisters, Janice (Murph) and Nancy (late Michael); his grandchildren, Kailyn, Justin and Sofia; his great-grandchildren, Autumn, Amber and Dakota; and his nieces and nephew, Michelle, Katherine and Patrick. A memorial service will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. Saturday, June 25, 2022, at the Level Green Fire Hall.
