Richard Andros Obituary

Richard P. Andros Jr., 52, of Latrobe, formerly of Moon Township, passed away Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, at his residence. Born Sept. 6, 1961, Richard was a son of Margaret Louise (Desterbecq) Andros, of Latrobe, and the late Richard P. Andros Sr. Richard was a graduate of Greensburg Central Catholic High School. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in electrical engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, a Master of Engineering Degree from Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton, Fla., and a Graduate Degree in Executive Business Administration Program at Motorola University in Schaumburg, Ill. Richard held several positions as a senior business and technology executive that allowed him to travel the world, which included his favorite destination, Jerusalem. Among the positions he held included the vice president of marketing at LXE Inc., director of sponsored engineering and business development at Panasas Inc. and senior business manager at Carnegie-Mellon University Software Engineering Institute (SEI). Richard also held several US Domestic Patents. He was a proud member also of the NRA. Surviving children are Richard P. Andros III, Joseph L. Andros and Kristy E. Andros, of Pittsburgh; sisters, Margaret (Margie) Stitzel and her husband, David, of Pittsburgh, and Anita Holupka and her husband, Charles, of Harrisburg; and nephews, Charles and Robert Holupka. Family and friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Vincent Basilica with the Rev. Thomas Curry, O.S.B., as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Vincent Cemetery.
