Richard K. "Tom" "Popeye" Danser, 80, of Humphreys, died Monday, May 11, 2015, at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. He was born July 27, 1934, in Humphreys, a son of the late Harry E. and Anna M. (Mylant) Danser. Prior to retirement, Popeye was a heavy equipment operator for Operating Engineers Local No. 66 and also worked on the family farm. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, member of VFW Post No. 8643, Pleasant Unity, and St. Florian Catholic Church, United. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Todaro. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy M. (Dreistadt) Danser; two sons, Richard D. Danser and Nicky Danser and wife, Tina, all of Greensburg; five daughters, Annette Zeltner and husband, Douglas, of Latrobe, Kathleen Heide and husband, Ernie, of Acme, Colleen Ulishney and husband, John, of Latrobe, Jennifer Stauffer and husband, Kevin, of Greensburg, and Marigretta Shafron and husband, John, of Youngstown; 18 grandchildren, Rebekah Strawn and husband, Andy, Katrina Patchan and husband, Kris, Rachael, Lauren, Alex, Kenna, Luke and Natalie Stauffer, John Adam, Daniel and Christopher Ulishney, Jacob, Jessileigh and Jeremy Heide, Leah and Kara Shafron, Grace Danser and Hannah Cunnard; four great-grandchildren, Riley, Sienna, Abagail and expected Jase in June; a sister, Josephine Linden, of Norvelt; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerome Todaro, Grace Specht, Marcie and Jim Novak, Archie Bossart, Charles Dickson, Pete and Christine Dreistadt and John Martelli; and his faithful canine companion, Emma. Friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the GAUT-BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 2072 Route 130, Pleasant Unity. Prayers will begin at 9:20 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home, followed by a funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Florian Church, United, with the Rev. John A. Sedlak as celebrant.
