Rita C. Greco

1935 - 2023

Rita Catherine Greco, born May 9, 1935, passed away Sunday, July 9, 2023, after a short illness. Rita graduated as valedictorian from New Kensington High School and from Mount Mercy, now Carlow University, with a major in English. She worked as a proofreader for Joseph Horne company, BBDO, a worldwide advertising agency, taught grade school at Mt. St. Peter for a short time and retired from the library at Alcoa Technical Center. After retiring, she worked part-time at Hallmark Cards in Hillcrest Shopping Center and the New Kensington Giant Eagle. Rita loved her dachshunds, reading, writing limericks, writing short stories, sending e-mails and texts and writing lines for greeting cards. Rita also won a photography award hosted by the Pittsburgh Post Gazette. Rita was a member of St. Joseph's Church in New Kensington. She will be missed by friends and family. Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Kathryn (Greco) Greco, infant brother, Daniel, brother, John D. Greco, sisters, Diana Manley, Beatrice (Angelo) Rivi and Mary Jane (Ralph) Coscarelli. She leaves behind her beloved sister, Dorothy (Karl) Strittmatter, of New Kensington, and many nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and nephews. A private family service will be held at a later date.
