Robert Copenhaver Obituary

Robert C. ``Bob' Copenhaver, 71, of Scottdale RD1 (East Huntingdon Township), departed this life to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2002, in Jefferson Township, Somerset County, while turkey hunting. Bob was born Dec. 11, 1930, in Corbittown, a son of the late Percy Clair and Elsie Mary Lucas Copenhaver, who passed away in 1982 and 1956 respectively. Bob was a devoted father, grandfather and brother. A pattern maker for Combustion Engineering in Monongahela for 18 years, he retired in 1987. He was previously employed by the Davis Pattern Shop in Scottdale for 15 years. Bob was a longtime and faithful member of Christ United Methodist Church in Scottdale, where he was a member of the Men's Group, Men's Chorus and the Young Married Couples Class, and played on the dartball team. He also enjoyed attending the events at Brownfield Community Center. A veteran of the Korean conflict, Bob served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a private first class and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. He graduated from Scottdale High School with the Class of 1950, and was a member of the Hecla Firemen's Club. Bob enjoyed biking on the Yough River Trail and held membership with the YRT. He was a true outdoorsman and an avid hunter. Bob will be sadly missed by his loving family: a son, Jay M. Copenhaver and wife, June, of Scottdale RD1; a daughter, Brenda Sue Titterington and husband, Edward, of Norvelt; three grandchildren, Jay Jr., Robbie and Jamie; three sisters, Helen Jones of Tarentum, Margaret Bain of Distant and Phyllis Slonecker and husband, Ken, of Scottdale; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Lucretia A. ``Criss' Ingram Copenhaver, on March 21, 1996; and four sisters, Kathryn Suhan (1955), Mary Nicholson (1982), Betty DeWitt (1992) and Ruth Bradley. Family and friends will be received Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 Spring St., Scottdale (724-887-5300), where service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Dennis M. Henley officiating. A chapel committal service and interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Bullskin Township. Memorials may be made to the Christ United Methodist Church, 203 Market St., Scottdale, PA 15683.
