Ronald W. Crookston

1938 - 2024

Ronald W. 'Ron' Crookston, 85, of Level Green, passed away on Monday, Sept. 30, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. Ron was born in Irwin, on Oct. 17, 1938, the son of the late William R. and Hester M. (Brundage) Crookston. Ron was always active as a youngster, hiking, playing sports, camping and swimming. He grew up during WWII and was fascinated by all the military equipment. Ron graduated from Trafford High School in 1956 and was a member of the National Honor Society. Upon graduation he was offered a job by Westinghouse Electric Company as an engineering technician. He worked 40 hours a week and went to night school at the University of Pittsburgh. He graduated with a BSME and an MBA. Ron worked his way up the ranks and retired in 1998, as a Fellow Engineer with 42 years of service. During his work, Ron traveled all over the world. After retiring Ron was asked to come back as a consulting engineer, which he did for eight more years, and he earned 24 U.S. patents during his career. Ron's hobbies were hunting, trapping, camping, ice skating, boating, water skiing, woodworking, metal working, restoring old cars and motorcycles and many other projects. Ron is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Joyce (Lorenzini) Crookston; his children, Laura Schwarzbauer (Tim), William Crookston (Tammy) and Eric Crookston (Allison); his grandchildren, Melissa, Justin, and Emily; and his sister, Elaine Herbert. Family and friends will be received for a memorial visitation with his urn on Saturday, from 2 to 4 p.m., in the JOHN M.
