Ruth R. Smith

1931 - 2022

Ruth R. Smith, 91, of Brinkerton, passed away peacefully Thursday, Dec. 15, 2022, in the arms of her daughter, Hope, to reunite with her husband and spend Christmas together with Jesus. She was born May 18, 1931, in Greensburg, a daughter of the late John R. and Edith (Poole) Fallecker. She worked at the former I.T.E. in South Greensburg and had been a caregiver for Katherine McKenna at Redstone. She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Trauger. Ruth loved spending time with family, traveling in her RV somewhere warm during the winter months, tending her flowers, watching the hummingbirds, going to yard sales and going out to dinner with family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. Smith; and her stepmother, Murial Lenora (Kinsell) Fallecker. She is survived by her children, Hope R. Smith, of Brinkerton, R. Curtis Smith and wife, Suzanne, of Leesburg, Va., and Dawn M. Owen and husband, Victor, of Brinkerton; three grandsons, Joshua, Mitchell and wife, Julia, and Jacob Smith; three sisters, Donna Cross, Martha Fargo and Gwendolyn Saffin; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 2072 Route 130, Pleasant Unity, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Frank S. Podolinski Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in St. Paul Reformed Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant Township. www.bachafh.com. .
