Stephen Urban Jr.

1946 - 2025

Stephen J. 'Steve' Urban Jr., 78, of Norvelt, PA, peacefully passed away while surrounded by his family on Sunday, Jan. 5, 2025. He was born on March 18, 1946, in Mount Pleasant, PA, to Stephen 'Chip' Sr. and Annabelle (Klosky) Urban. Later, Steve graduated from Hurst High School, class of 1964. A few years later, he proudly served in the Army National Guard in support of the Vietnam War operations; while serving, he achieved the rank of staff sergeant. He then spent the majority of his life employed at Robertshaw Controls, as a precision tool grinder journeyman. Furthermore, he dedicated over 20 years to the Norvelt Volunteer Fire Department, where he was selected to serve in many line officer positions. Through the years, he greatly enjoyed attending college football games with friends and family. Steve is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Connie (Yasher); his children, Stephen with wife, Angela, and Scott with wife, Nikki; grandchildren, Tyler, Braden, Chaney, Reese, Hanna, Riley, Brant, and Bryn Urban; great-grandchildren, Tyler Jr., and Beau; brother, John Urban; sisters, Kathy Wojtas and Mary Ann Plank; as well as many nieces and nephews. The family would like to acknowledge the entire team of the Amedisys professionals for their priceless care. Additionally, a special highlight to Pamela, Kayla, Martika, and his 'ambulance crew,' whose faces he looked forward to seeing every day. Family and friends will be received from 12 p.m. until the time of vigil prayers at 7:45 p.m., on Friday, at HOFFER WILT FUNERAL HOME, Norvelt, where the Norvelt VFD will conduct a service at 6 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, at St. Florian Catholic Church, 4263 PA-981, Mount Pleasant, PA 15666, with Fr. John A. Sedlak, presiding. Burial to follow in St. Florian Cemetery with Military Honors accorded by the Armbrust Veterans Association.
