Thomas R. Williams

1947 - 2023

Thomas Ross Williams, 75, of Fairfield Township, passed away peacefully at home, Wednesday, June 7, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was born July 28, 1947, in Johnstown, the son of late David A. and Jane H. (Stewart) Williams. He was preceded in death by brothers, David W. Williams and William A. Williams; and sister, Judith A. Lear. He was also preceded by his faithful Labrador, Belle, who recently crossed the Rainbow Bridge. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen (Hackett) Williams; his children, Heather R. Olsen, widow of Erik Olsen, and David R. Williams and his wife, Kendra D. Mack; his sister, Nancy J. Clark and her husband, Bill; stepchildren, Bur Church and his wife, Jackie, Rachel Risko and her husband, Lou, and Becca Bauer and her husband, Fritz; and numerous nieces and nephews who he loved spending time with. While Tom never had grandchildren of his own, he cherished the role of grandfather to Braunwyn, Hunter, Wyatt, Lyla, and Lennox, who he adored. Tom was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, life member and former chief of Fairfield Volunteer Fire Company, life member and commander of New Florence VFW Post 7622, member of Fort Palmer Presbyterian Church and Free and Accepted Masons Ligonier Lodge 331. He retired from Conemaugh Generating Station after 38 years as an E & I technician. Tom enjoyed hunting, golfing, grilling out, gardening and Sugar Time, where he made maple syrup on his farm for more than 35 years. But by far, his favorite activity was shooting the breeze in his garage with family and friends. He will be remembered for his generosity, quick wit, work ethic and loyalty to those he loved. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 24, 2023, at Fort Palmer Presbyterian Church, 4627 Route 711, Bolivar, with the Rev. Dr. J. Paul McCracken officiating. Military honors and Masonic services will be held as a part of the memorial service. Arrangements are in care of KENNETH A.
