Vernetta Charlton Obituary

Vernetta "G" (Blair) Charlton, 84, of Greensburg, passed away Sunday, Sept. 5, 2021, surrounded by family at Excela Westmoreland Hospital in Greensburg. She was born Oct. 15, 1936, in Gray, Pa., daughter of the late Elmer Grayson and Luella (Fleegle) Blair. Vernetta was a seamstress and a member of the ILGWU (International Ladies Garment Workers Union) for more than 25 years. She was a loving mother and grandmother; dedicating her time to raising her children. She was a caregiver to her family and many close friends; caring for husband, son, parents and friends many times throughout her life. She enjoyed bowling, ceramics, watching Western movies and was a great cook and baker. She was preceded in death by both parents; her loving husband, Frank Leonard Charlton; three sisters, Ethel McLaughlin, Odessa Collier and Leona Loughner, and three brothers, Kenneth, Evan and George Blair. She is survived by one daughter, Judy Lynn-Charlton, of Irwin; two sons, Blaine and Gary Charlton, of Irwin; five grandchildren, Cherish, Frank (Crystal), William (Heidi), Jamie (Chelsey) and Jonathan (Alyssa); nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Carol Crawford, of Youngwood. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10, 2021, at BEATTY-RICH FUNERAL HOME INC., Route 136, Madison, Ronald A. Rich Jr., supervisor/FD. Interment will be private.
