William McLeod Obituary

William D. McLeod, 72, of Tarentum, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Mar. 2, 2024, at his home. He was born Aug. 11, 1951, in Miami, Florida to the late William and Hazel (Goza) McLeod. Before retiring, Bill was a Professor of Economics at Broward College in Florida and later worked as an Attorney at his practice in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. He was of the Presbyterian faith. He graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in economics and received his masters in economics from the University of Miami and his Ph.D in economics from Florida State University. He also graduated with a law degree from the University of St. Thomas Law School and practiced law while continuing to teach. As a teacher, he thought it was important to develop personal relationships with his students that he mentored and made time to discuss economic issues with them. Bill kept up with legal issues after retiring and enjoyed discussing politics, watching old movies, reading, and playing with his rescue dogs over the years. Bill adapted easily to the winter weather of western Pennsylvania after living in southern Florida. Bill is survived by his wife of 35 years, Antoinette (Gazarik) McLeod; sister, Nancy (Louis) Sabia of Miami, FL; brother-in-law, Richard (Lucy) Gazarik; niece, Katie Gazarik; nephew, Adam (Kellie) Gazarik; and by his four great-nieces. He also leaves many friends and former colleagues in Florida. A memorial for Bill will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of the CICHOLSHI-ZIDEK FUNERAL HOME, INC., Natrona Heights 724-224-8688. Contributions in memory of Bill may be made to your local Humane Society. Hello my name is Joey Greenwood I was Bill neighbor when he lived in Davie,Fl. Bill is without a doubt my all time favorite neighbor. I was a kid when I used to hang with him. We would walk his dog together, plant vegetables and hang out at Barnes and noble and he would tell me all these funny stories about life and situation he ever been in. I think about how much I miss him everytime I come back home to see my parents. I know he loved his wife and dogs for sure. I can never say anything bad about bill he will greatly be missed and I thank him for the lesson on life that I use day to day. Rest in peace big guy. See you one day again.

Toni, may the love of friends and family carry you through your grief. My husband Ron, son, Joey and I met Bill and Toni when they moved 2 doors down. Bill was such a funny and smart friend. We will always remember Bill for his love for life and story telling. He always kept us laughing and entertained. I'm sure he is happy meeting up with all his rescue doggies who he loved so much, however the love of his life was his wife, Toni who I know misses him dearly. May your happy memories help you through this difficult time. Love Ron and Stacey Greenwood
