William A. "Bill" Schaller Sr., 74, of Waynesburg, formerly of Washington, Pa., and Greensburg died Thursday, March 19, 2015, died unexpectedly at the Washington Hospital. He was born Jan. 23, 1941, in Greensburg, a son of the late Weddell George and Miriam M. Swartzwelder Schaller. Mr. Schaller was a graduate of Greensburg-Salem High School and the Pennsylvania State Police Academy. From his youth until 1968, he was employed at Schaller's Bakery in Greensburg. Mr. Schaller was employed with the Pennsylvania State Police-Washington Barracks for 25 years, retiring in 1993. He enjoyed genealogy, restoring and maintaining the Weddell Cemetery in West Newton, fishing and especially enjoyed his special times with his grandchildren and family. He was a member of the NRA and the FOP. Mr. Schaller was formerly married to Dulcina Bompiani Nunes, who survives. On July 11, 2003, he married Kathy J. Chester, who also survives. Surviving are his children; son, William A. (Karen R.) Schaller Jr., of Bethel Park; daughter, Kathleen D. (James) Petley, of Pittsburgh; son, Wedel Sean (Jamie) Schaller, of Washington; stepson, Richard (Jaime) Studt, of Washington; stepdaughters, Jamie (Evan) Zatezalo, of Canonsburg, and Lori Studt, of Waynesburg; brothers, Weddell B. Schaller, of Greensburg and Warren E. (Mary) Schaller, of Youngwood; sisters, Marbeth Schaller, of Jefferson, and Gretchen Tolmer, of Pasadena, Md.; two grandchildren, William and Elizabeth Petley; and step-grandchildren, Marcus Studt, Taylor Wilson, Reagan Zatezalo, Zoe Zatezalo, Brittany Studt, Shelby Studt and R.J. Studt. Mr. Schaller was preceded in death by a brother, Walter L. Schaller. At the request of the family, there will be no public visitation. Burial will be private.
