William Shrum Obituary

William J. Shrum, 82, of Worthington, passed away on Monday, Nov. 4, 2024, in Allegheny Valley Hospital. Born Jan. 15, 1942, in Lower Burrell, he was the son of the late William J. and Bessie (Dickson) Shrum, Sr. Bill was a lifelong resident of the area. He worked as a millwright for Allegheny Ludlum. Bill was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Cadogan, the Tarentum Eagles, the VFW in Clarendon, Warren County, and a longtime member of the Lions in Cadogan. He loved fishing, the Steelers, old cars, and watching television shows about old cars, but mostly loved his time with family. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by sisters, Nancy Christopher, Sally Smith, Peggy Dempsey, and Cathy Ehrman, who passed away just hours after Bill; and brothers, James Shrum and Tom Shrum. Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia (Milligan) Shrum; daughters, Amy Riley of Worthington, Pamela (Charles) Wagner of Ford City, and Mary Ellen (Brent Sr.) Kilgore of Worthington; grandchildren, John (Chelsee), Jesse, William, Tanner, and Colt; great-grandchildren, Rowan and Keegan; sister, Helen Shrum of Newport News, VA; and many extended family and friends. Family will receive friends on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2024, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in the MANTINI FUNERAL HOME, INC., 701 Sixth Ave., Ford City. Additional visitation will be held on Friday, Nov. 8, 2024, from 9 a.m., until the time of transfer prayers at 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian burial will be conducted on Friday, Nov. 8, 2024, at 10 a.m., in St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Cadogan. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Cadogan.

Billy, as we called him when I was a kid, was my cousin. He was 10 years older than me, so we didn't really play together, like I did with his younger sisters. We had lots of cousins and the families always got together. RIP Billy, God bless you.
