Andrew J. Horwat

Andrew J. "Drew" Horwat, 54, of New Kensington, died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2018, in UPMC Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born in Latrobe on June 12, 1964, to John A. Horwat, of Forest Hills, and the late Charlotte Ann McCracken Horwat, and has been a resident of New Kensington since moving from Pittsburgh in 2003. Mr. Horwat worked for the VA Hospital H.J. Heinz Campus, Aspinwall. He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins and enjoyed camping, but above all else, he loved spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife of 13 years, Leslie M. Nelson Horwat; children, Ashley (fiance Justin Burletic) Horwat and Jessica (Brandan) Hultz, both of Pittsburgh, Chelsea (Dondi) Thomas, of Jefferson Hills, and Ryan (Nicole) Gallagher, of Euclid, Ohio; grandchildren, Madison, Alyssa "Whoosit," Vada and Theodore; and two brothers, John Horwat, of Forest Hills, and Walter Horwat, of Pittsburgh.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at THE RUSIEWICZ OF LOWER BURRELL FUNERAL HOME, 3124 Leechburg Road at Alder Street, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday by the Rev. Dean Ward.
