Angelo Fasano Obituary

Angelo S. Fasano, 94, of Arnold, died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007, in Concordia at Rebecca Residence. He was born Feb. 21, 1913, in Italy, the son of the late Oreste and Alinda DeFillipi Fasano, and had lived in Arnold for the last 50 years. He was employed by U.S. Steel in Vandergrift for 47 years. Mr. Fasano was a member of Mt. St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in New Kensington. He was also a member of the Columbiana Lodge, Owls Club, and VFW. He served in the Army in World War II with the 25th Infantry Division. He was in combat in the Guadal Canal and Randova, receiving two Battle Stars, one in each place. His last two years with the Army was spent serving as military police in the Fiji Islands. He also enjoyed dancing and was an avid sports fan, especially for Notre Dame. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother--Mario Fasano; and his first wife, Elda Fasano. Survivors include his wife, Gloria Morelli Fasano; a brother, Marino M. (Theresa) Fasano, of Allegheny Township; a brother-in-law, Hugo (Mary) Morelli, of New Kensington; close friend, Aaron McAdams, of New Kensington; and he is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the JOSEPH J. CARDARO FUNERAL HOME, a service oriented funeral home, 1125 Kenneth Ave., New Kensington, PA 15068, 724-337-3325, where a blessing service will be held at 10:15 a.m. Saturday. Entombment will be in Greenwood Memorial Park Mausoleum, Lower Burrell.
