Anna Orzechowski

Anna Staruch Orzechowski, 95, of Springdale, came to rest peacefully in the arms of Jesus on Monday, Dec. 22, 2014, in UPMC St. Margaret. She was born Dec. 4, 1919, in Curtisville, to the late Walter and Lillian Knapic Staruch. She was a retired secretary for Gulf Research with 42 years of service. Anna was a member of St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church in Springdale, Gulf Retirees Association and was a volunteer at Springdale Free Public Library. Annie always had a kind and encouraging word to say. She made you feel welcome and was famous for her hugs and kisses. Annie loved her cat, Machka, scratch-off lottery tickets, roses, symphony and dancing the Polka. She also enjoyed spending time at camp. Annie was an avid bowler, Scrabble player and bargain shopper. Survivors are: daughter, Lillian Orzechowski and her (and Annie's) special friend, Vern Smith, of Springdale; nieces, Patricia (Stanley) Paszek, of Bairdford, and Carol (Jack) Pavlik, of Russellton; and sister-in-law, Audrey Staruch, of Greensboro, N.C. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Anthony Orzechowski; sister, Minnie Krupa; and two brothers, Stanley and Carl Staruch. Family will receive friends from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday in Springdale at the CHARLES B. JARVIE FUNERAL HOME, 801 Pittsburgh St. Christian Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Alphonsus Church with the Rev. Kenneth E. Kezmarsky officiating.
