Anna Ziccarelli

1928 - 2017

Anna Chiappetta Ziccarelli, 89, of New Kensington, went to be with the Lord, peacefully, on Sunday, Aug. 20, 2017, surrounded by her family. She was born to the late Natle Chiappetta and Concettia DeBartolo in Marano, Italy, on Feb. 23, 1928. Anna immigrated to the United States from Italy in 1950 and was a resident of the Valley her entire life as a homemaker. Anna enjoyed gardening and cooking. She prized her vegetable garden and shared her bounty with friends and family. She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Church in New Kensington and instilled in her family the love of God. She was a friend to all who met her, leaving a lasting impression with them. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially the children whom she loved dearly. Her legacy to her family and friends is to love one another, stay close as a family, share what you have and be grateful for your blessings. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband Anthony of 48 years, brothers Salvatore and Stano Chiappetta, and sisters Carmela Perri and Luigiana Chiappeta. She was the loving mother of three children: Dr. Gabriel (Judy) Ziccarelli, with whom she most recently resided; Phyllis Ziccarelli, of Trafford; and Ann (Robert) Lynch, of Jacksonville, Fla. She had five grandchildren, Rebecca (Mike) Dyer, Anthony (Vanessa) Ziccarelli, Mathew (Tera) Ziccarelli, Amanda Lynch and Adam Lynch; and seven great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Jake Dryer and Chelsea, Gabriel, Nicole, Lukas and Dominick Ziccarelli.
Viewing will be private. Friends and relatives are invited to attend the Christian funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017, in St. Joseph Church, New Kensington. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Arnold.
