Bernice V. Arasin

1926 - 2025

Bernice V. (Orkwis) Arasin, 98, of Lower Burrell, died Monday, Sept. 29, 2025, in her home with her family by her side. She was born in Natrona Heights on Nov. 5, 1926, to the late John and Mary Wenckowski Orkwis and had been a resident of Lower Burrell since moving from East Vandergrift in 1955. Mrs. Arasin was a member of St. Margaret Mary Roman Catholic Church, Lower Burrell, and worked for Isaly's Deli as well as Hill Crest Bowling Alley, both in Lower Burrell. She was a member of the Lower Burrell American Legion and enjoyed going to coffee shops and restaurants with her son, Ron and spending time with her family. When she was younger, she enjoyed bowling, traveling and cruises with her late husband, and going to casinos in Las Vegas and Atlantic City with her late sisters. She is survived by her son, Ronald Arasin of Lower Burrell; five grandchildren, Jason (Holly) Arasin, Brandon Gabriel, Bryan Gabriel and twins Dana (Shawn) Guido and Danielle Arasin; five great-grandchildren, Koby Gabriel, Gabriella, twins Giuliana and Santino Guido, and Briella Gabriel; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent Stanley Arasin; daughter, Kathleen Ann Gabriel; grandson, Jeremy R. Gabriel; four brothers, John, Victor, Henry, and Norbert Orkwis; and three sisters, Stella Vovaris, Eleanor Knab, and Helen Vovaris. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire staff of Monarch Hospice, especially Christy, Vanita, and Holly, for the quality of care Mrs. Arasin received. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2025, at RUSIEWICZ OF LOWER BURRELL FUNERAL HOME, 3124 Leechburg Road, at Alder St., where Prayers of Transfer will be said at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 2, 2025, followed by a Christian funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Margaret Mary Church.
