Bette Ann Szymkowiak

Bette Ann (Rogala) Szymkowiak, July 8, 1951, to Feb. 17, 2025. Bette Ann passed away at 73. She was born to the late Ben Rogala and his wife, the late Helen Backo Rogala, in Natrona, PA, where she was raised with love and strong family values alongside her five sisters. After graduating from Highlands High School, she was employed by Allegheny Ludlum as a data programmer. As a lover of animals, Bette had numerous cats, dogs, pigs, and birds throughout her lifetime. Bette Ann cheered on the Steelers and enjoyed watching televised sports. As a child, she had a wicked pitching arm and was the warmup pitcher for the local boy's baseball team. This was before girl's sports. She also enjoyed nature and gardening so much so that after moving to SC, she became a Master Gardener. She had deep love for her family, sons, Eric (Dawn) Szymkowiak, Brian Szymkowiak; grandchildren, Brooke (John) Livingston, Colten, Gunner, Mitchell, and Sydney; great-grandchildren, Mckenna, Morgan, Dawson, and Mia. Bette Ann leaves behind her sisters, Susan (Bill) Knoll, Marian (Mario) de la Torre, Dolly Osterholm, Jeanne Rogala, and Mary Jo Anarumo. Funeral services were private. A Celebration of Life will be held for immediate family at a later date. Contributions in memory of Bette Ann can be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
