Charles L. Hockenberry Sr.

1961 - 2025

Charles L. Hockenberry Sr., 63, of Tarentum, passed away on Monday, March 31, 2025. He was born Aug. 5, 1961, in Butler to the late Delbert and Mary Jean (Holtz) Hockenberry. Chuck was a 1979 graduate of Valley High School. He served his country as a specialist in the United States Army. Chuck worked as a truck driver for various companies, then worked for E.S.M. in Mars as a grinder, and most recently he was working in the maintenance department for Hertz Rental in Gibsonia. He was a member of the V.F.W. in Rimersburg and Clarion and the Outdoor Life Lodge in Fawn Township. Chuck enjoyed hunting and fishing, was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandson. He is survived by his children, Charlotte Hockenberry (Jermell Blair), of Tarentum and Charles L. Hockenberry Jr., of Tarentum; grandson, Aden Michael Blair; brothers, Donald Hockenberry (fiancee, Marcy Montana), Albert Brown, and Jeffrey Brown; sisters, Marsha Straight and Maria Czulewicz; sisters-in-law, Becky (Eric) Negley and Sherri (Jim) Mosley; and by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by his wife, Donna R. Swanson-Hockenberry, on May 12, 2019; brothers, Delbert T. Hockenberry Jr. and Frederick P. Hockenberry; sister, Donna Jean Hockenberry; sister-in-law, Anna Swanson; and brother-in-law, Lindy Swanson. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2025, in the CICHOLSKI-ZIDEK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1522 Carlisle St., Natrona Heights, 724-224-8688, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 4, 2025.
