Charles E. Laber

1947 - 2024

Charles 'Chuck' E. Laber, 77, of North Huntingdon, on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024, the Lord called Chuck home and he answered. He left his earthly family to be greeted by his heavenly Family. He was born Nov. 16, 1947, the son of Edward and Anna (Hlavsa) Laber. Chuck graduated from Norwin High School, Class of 1965. After graduation, he worked at Norwin Produce, Koppers, Quanterra, and Frank and Dom's. Chuck traveled the states working for Koppers and Quanterra doing soil samples. Chuck also enjoyed coaching Country Hills PAL Little League in 1980 and 1981. Although he did not have any sons, the PAL Baseball team were his boys. He enjoyed teaching them to be friends and teammates. Chuck was a sports fanatic and loved the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins. He would be watching one game on TV and listening to another on the radio. Chuck also enjoyed feeding his critters, the birds, turkeys, deer, and numerous cats in the neighborhood. He named many of the cats and watched for them daily, along with the pesky raccoons. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, twins, Glenn and Fred Laber; and a sister, Jane Criner. Chuck is survived by his wife of 54 years, Janet (Piovesan) Laber; his daughter, Jennifer (Jake) Gomola; his beautiful granddaughters, Lezlee 'Justine' and Journey Gomola; a sister, Jody Roscosky of Jeannette; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at the OTT FUNERAL HOME, INC., 805 Pennsylvania Ave., Irwin, PA 15642. Parting prayers will be at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., in the Immaculate Conception Church, Irwin.
