Daniel Antonucci Obituary

Daniel Antonucci, 87, of New Kensington, died Friday, Nov. 20, 2015, in West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born June 12, 1928, in New Kensington, he was the son of the late Giovanni and Catherine (Ceccarelli) Antonucci. He had been a manager for A&P Tea Co. stores. He was a member of Mt. St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, New Kensington. He served in the Army during the Korean War as a corporal from January 1953 to December 1954, and was a member of the 17501HST Army Band. He was a 1946 graduate of Arnold High School, a member of the Pittsburgh Musicians Union and New Kensington Musical Society, and loved his music. Mr. Antonucci played trumpet and trombone with The Buddy Lee Orchestra from age 17 to 80. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandsons and granddaughter-in-law. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Andrew Vida Jr.; and two sisters, Frances Chipoletti and Ann Fiorina. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Celeste (Carmadella) Antonucci, of New Kensington; daughter, Cheryl Vida, of New Kensington; three grandsons, Daniel Vida, Phillip (Katie) Vida and Matthew Vida; and two sisters, Gloria Chicchio and Dolores Stopko Modey.
Friends will be received from 8:30 until 9:30 a.m. Monday, at which time prayers of transfer will take place, in the GIUNTA-BERTUCCI FUNERAL HOME INC., 1509 Fifth Ave., Arnold, JohnPaul Bertucci, owner-supervisor. A funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. in Mt. St. Peter Roman Catholic Church. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
