Dominick D'Achille Obituary

Dominick "Dom" Paul D'Achille, 78, of Guthrie, Okla., formerly of Hammon, Okla., passed away peacefully, Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2023, at Clinton Regional Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was born Dec. 9, 1944, in New Kensington. He was the son of Dominick Frank and Lena (Guida) D'Achille. Dom served our nation proudly in the Navy for six years during the Vietnam era, two of which were in Pearl Harbor on the USS San Joaquin County LST 1122, and later the USS Duluth LPD6. Pearl Harbor is where he met his future wife, Donna Claire Hibler. Dom and Donna made their home in Hammon for over 45 years, where they raised their children. Dom grew up in Arnold and was a 1962 graduate of Arnold High School. He returned to Arnold after military service and graduated with a B.S. in accounting from Robert Morris College, Pittsburgh, in 1971. After moving to Hammon, Okla., he received his MBA in 1981 from Southwestern Oklahoma State University and began his career at Southwestern Oklahoma Development Authority (SWODA), where he retired after 30 years as deputy director/comptroller. Dom served as the mayor of Hammon in the seventies. He was a member of the American Legion, the Elks Lodge, VFW, and Hammon Jaycees. He enjoyed entertaining, cooking, working outdoors, and spending time with his family. Dom was a phenomenal cook and often cooked for the town of Hammon and various functions. Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 27, 2023, at Community Fellowship Church, Hammon, Okla. Interment was in Red Hill Cemetery, Hammon, Okla. Cherishing his memory are his wife of 55 years, Donna D'Achille, of Guthrie, Okla.; daughter, Dana and her husband, Kevin Kubat, of Okeene, Okla.; son, Nicky D'Achille and his wife, Catina, of Edmond, Okla.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Donnetta Cianflone, of Lower Burrell, and Diane Ross and her husband, Larry, of Freeport; and two nieces, Nicole and Erin Cianflone, of Lower Burrell. Dom was preceded in death by his parents, Dominick and Lena D'Achille; and brother-in-law, Angelo Cianflone. Memorials may be made to the Clinton Veterans Center, in care of Martin-Dugger Funeral Home, P.O. Box 707, Elk City, OK 73648. Dom was one of the nicest members of the Arnold Class of 62. He had an on-going cheerful spirit that made everyone smile. He always made me feel special and I am sure, many others too. So glad to know he achieved so much in life and that he was wo active. He must have left a very big hole in his family and community.

I was in Dom's graduating class of 1962. He was probably the nicest guy in the entire. I am glad to hear he did so well for himself and family and so sorry that he has passed on. My deepest sympathy, Judy Buzzinotti Burkett
